A week ago the minority federal government of Canada, and Industry Minister Jim Prentice, tabled an amendment to the Copyright Act. Entitled Bill C-61, its purpose is to bring Canadian copyright law into compliance with the current WIPO treaty (this despite their being no international legal obligation to implement WIPO - it hasn’t been ratified by Canada). I’ve been flailing about the internet with excessive ADD trying to decide what to learn next. These are really exciting times to be a software developer / computer scientist. There are so many development fads, languages, frameworks, and methodologies to keep up with. There are hundreds of high quality dev-bloggers to read, so many fascinating concepts to digest. Burp. It’s an industry where you really have to keep practicing and learning to stay even remotely relevant. To learn a new language

Is it just me, or have there been an inordinate number of UFO sightings reported in the Northern Territory this year? It seems every time I log on to the NT News website another territorian’s talking about the same UFO. Do the US Military or Air Force have a base up north that we don’t know about that they’re using to test new technology? It’d make sense, considering all the open space – but the ‘buzzing houses’ certainly doesn’t make any sense. Look at this stuff – this is all just the last
